At Lumenrare, every artwork is treated as a piece of history. From the moment you place your order to the moment it arrives at your door, we take every step to ensure it is protected, documented, and beautifully presented.

How We Pack

Each print is handled and wrapped by hand using archival-grade materials. We use acid-free tissue, rigid conservation boards, and museum-quality sleeves to protect surfaces and pigments. Framed pieces are placed in custom-cut foam surrounds and double-walled boxes to prevent movement during transit.

We never roll antique prints or framed works — they are shipped flat, exactly as they were intended to be seen. Every parcel is sealed, labelled as fine art, and includes tracking and insurance. 

Tax & Import Information

All artworks sold by Lumenrare are original antique prints — each more than 100 years old — and are therefore exempt from standard VAT (Value Added Tax) under EU and Irish law. This exemption applies to genuine antiques, defined as objects over a century in age that retain their original character and have not been significantly altered.

For collectors outside Ireland, most customs authorities also recognise this exemption and apply reduced or zero import duty on antique works on paper. However, any local taxes or import handling fees are the responsibility of the buyer.

How We Ship

We ship worldwide using trusted carriers such as DHL Express, UPS and An Post Registered. Once your artwork leaves our studio, you’ll receive a tracking link and estimated delivery date.

All shipments are fully insured until they reach you. If your piece arrives damaged (which is rare), please contact us immediately and we’ll guide you through the claim or replacement process.

PayPal Buyer Protection — Peace of Mind for Every Collector

Your payment is always secure with PayPal Buyer Protection. This service covers you for the full amount of your purchase (including shipping) if something goes wrong.

Here’s what it means for you:

  • You’re covered if your item doesn’t arrive. If a parcel is lost in transit, you can open a claim with PayPal to receive a full refund.

  • You’re protected if your item is not as described. If the artwork differs significantly from the listing (for example, wrong edition, incorrect size, or unexpected damage), you can file a dispute. We use high sensor imaging technology to scan all of our print stock so you can clearly make your decision based on the exact condition. 

  • You have time to act. You can open a dispute with PayPal up to 180 days after purchase, and they will help you resolve the issue quickly and fairly.

  • Applies to all PayPal purchases. Whether you pay via your PayPal balance, credit card, or debit card, you are protected as long as the transaction is marked as a “Goods & Services” payment.

At Lumenrare, we make sure all our shipments, descriptions and records meet PayPal’s eligibility criteria — so your protection remains fully valid from start to finish.

Our 28-Day Return Policy

We want you to love your piece. If for any reason it isn’t quite right, simply contact us within 28 days of delivery to arrange a return.

  • Returns must be in the same condition and packaging as received.

  • Once we receive and inspect the item, we’ll issue a prompt refund or exchange.

  • Return shipping costs are the buyer’s responsibility unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.
